Treefort 2023 Profile: Rogê
Posted in Interviews with tags Roge, Treefort Music Fest on 03/22/2023 by korzeckDon’t know how to start off your Treefort Music Fest 2023 experience? Not totally sold on Dinosaur Jr.’s old-school indie-rock, Covet’s “emotional nerd rock” or Old 97’s classic alt-country? You can always “go Rogê” tonight (and tomorrow) with some funky samba from Rio de Janeiro.
We had the good fortune of touching base with Rogê, the crown heir of the Brazilian Popular Music movement shortly before he arrived in Boise. Rogê just finished opening for collaborator Jack Johnson on some dates in Brazil and is also coming off seven shows at South by Southwest.
Rogê is the 22nd artist to participate in the Bad Penny’s ongoing series profiling international artists coming to Boise to play the state’s best and brightest music festival, Treefort.
Rogê will have the spotlight pretty much all to himself tonight, as the festival gets underway with its first evening. That show will build momentum for Rogê’s second concert, tomorrow at Bandshell at 7:40 p.m. Here’s what he is most looking forward to with both shows.

Posted in Interviews with tags Meltt on 03/22/2023 by korzeckThe timing couldn’t be better Treefort Music Fest and psychedelic rock squadron Meltt: The Vancouver just freshened up with a new EP, earlier month, bequeathing it with the name Another Quiet Sunday.
Meltt recently shared their excitement with us about rolling out some of their spacey new material in a city they hold dear: Boise. In fact, anticipate that the Treefort shows on Friday and Saturday will be “joyous” occasions.

Treefort 2023 Profile: Montreal’s Teke::Teke
Posted in Interviews with tags Teke::Teke, Treefort on 03/20/2023 by korzeckWhat is almost definitely the most highly anticipated edition of Treefort Music Fest kicks off this week, and it is our honor to bring you an interview with one of the bands that music lovers are most excited to see perform, psych-rock luminaries Teke::Teke.
The seven-piece band takes something of a kitchen-sink approach to making tunes. They incorporate distorted guitars, drums, trombone, flute and more instruments to create an idiosyncratic yet thoroughly dynamic mixture of Japanese rock and surf rock.
Hailing from Montreal, they are the 20th band to participate in the Bad Penny’s ongoing series profiling international artists coming to Boise to play the state’s best and brightest music festival, Treefort.
