Kurt Orzeck’s Interview Index

Big Trouble cip for Interview lnasfing page

Welcome to the writing archives of music journalist, editor, bio writer and public speaker Kurt Orzeck. My writing and editing credits include FLOOD, Treble, The Big Takeover, RollingStone.com, MTV.com, Reuters, New York Magazine, Vulture, Yahoo, Alternative Press, Filter, LexisNexis, BBC.com, Thrasher, Soma, Venice, Royal Flush, Post-Trash, Devil in the Woods, Rockpile, Mean Street, Harp, Spectrum Culture, Edible Idaho, Greenbelt Magazine, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Eagle Magazine, Idaho Family Magazine, Commonweal, Magnetic, lotsa other mags and websites that went bust, and surely a few more I’m forgetting.

I also served as managing editor at ICE Magazine, managing editor at Buzznet and an editor at MTV News. NPR, USA Today, Politicon and others featured me as a source in their reports and events.

Currently, I regularly contribute interviews, features and/or reviews to FLOOD, Music Connection, New Noise, The Big Takeover, City Lifestyle and, of course, The Bad Penny. In fall 2022, I taught a three-week course at Boise State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute on the evolution of rock and roll from Elvis to Hendrix.

If you would like to contact me to discuss editing or writing opportunities from feature stories to memoirs to artist bios to press releases — or just to geek out over Queens of the Stone Age, the Jesus Lizard, Big Trouble in Little China or MacGyver — email me at KOrzeck@gmail.com. Below is a partial list of interviews I have conducted since launching my writing career in 1998.
