10 Best Free Bandcamp Downloads #9: NORMANS, Aidan Baker, Nadja, Convulsing, Gloios, Twilight Sad
Strapped for cash but hungry for great music? The Bad Penny is here to help. Well, musicians and Bandcamp are the ones actually doing the heavy lifting, but we’re saving you some precious time by curating the best freebies we came across on the site since the last edition of this series. So here’s a rundown of 10 rad songs, albums and EPs – most of them released last month – that The Bad Penny decided to share because we love you.

1. Aidan Baker & Wario Pianesi – 4Rooms (January 2026)
From the Bandcamp description: “4Rooms is the improv session recorded live by Aidan Baker (Nadja) and Wario Pianesi (Mrs Bhutan) in Berlin at Hinterraum on Oct. 24, 2024. Mastered by Riccardo Gamondi at unSalice studio.”
2. Nadja – Seemannsgarn (Church In Session) (January 2026)
This is an ambient/drone live track that Nadja performed with Leah Buckareff on bass guitar and Aidan Baker on electric guitar and drum machine, They recorded the 42-minute song in a church in Berlin.
3. VTB – Live at Bleakfest, Vol. 1 EP (May 2024)

4. NORMANS – “Bending The Branch (Hans Mix)” single (January 2025)
From the Bandcamp description: “‘Bending the Branch’ was the first single off the self-titled debut album from LA industrial noise rock band, NORMANS. This EBM (Electronic Body Music) style remix by Hans Riviera delivers a massively catchy bass line and darkwave/goth vocals throughout. For fans of Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, etc.”

5. Gloios – Prensado (February 2026)
We’ll have much more to say about this fascinating project by Brazilian brainiac Gloios, who recorded and wrote a related short story that accompanies it.
6. The Twilight Sad – Stripped Back (April 2024)
The post-punk band are pumping out It’s the Long Goodbye, a new record featuring The Cure’s Robert Smith, on March 27. But in the meantime, feast on this free goodie.

7. Convulsing – Perdurance (March 2024)
If blackened death metal is your bag, we dare you to listen to this free cut by Australia’s Convulsing and not be converted.

Almost definitely the first band from Kazakhstan that we’ve featured on The Bad Penny, “Across 32 minutes, a dense maelstrom of cold riffing and infernal atmospheres unfolds, depicting a calculated descent into the Stygian depths of the mind, where doubt, pain, and torment reside,” the Bandcamp description says of the band’s debut LP.
9. Subtle Body – s/t (January 2026)
Strange Mono is a charity label that can do no wrong in our book, and once again, they’re onto a gem of an anarcho-punk band. Subtle Body has already sold out physical copies of their debut, but they continue to offer the digital version for free because they rooooooock!
10. Earthbound – “YGCTW” single (January 2026)
The progressive metalcore band from Victoria put out this track about three weeks ago. They’re calling it “The soundtrack to rob a bank with your mates to.” We love them already.
