10 Best Free Bandcamp Downloads #5: This Christmas Stocking Overfloweth
Strapped for cash but hungry for great music? You won’t have much luck camping out at the grocery store these days; Bandcamp is a way better destination. Here’s a rundown of 10 rad releases, most newly released, that The Bad Penny recently came across on Bandcamp.
(Note: If you do have pocket change to spare, please show your thanks to these deserving artists and labels by tossing them some coin.)
1. Dynatron – Aeternus (2025 Remaster)
From the Danish dark-synth artist: “The remaster of Aeternus is finally here! I hope you’ll enjoy it once more and appreciate the additional 5 extra bonus tracks, all with a proper dynamic and balanced master! The artwork was created long ago when I was working on the vinyl release in 2016, so I’m super excited to show it too you!”
2. VA – Artoffact Records 2025 Sampler
Free tunes from Soft Vein, T.O.Y., Kauan, Actors, OvO, Seeming, Male Tears, Hallows, Test Dept, the Violent Youth, Rhys Fulber … need we say more? No, we needn’t.
No, this isn’t the same Twilight Sad freebie we informed you about in our inaugural culling of no-charge Bandcamp downloads – the instrumental post-rock Scots are simply that damn generous.
4. VA – Three One G’s Cult and Culture: Planet B Podcast Compilation LP
If you don’t know how much The Bad Penny treasures Three One G, read more posts on this website, and it’ll become readily apparent. Concurrently, download this wicked generous collection of songs by The Locust, Planet B, Year Zero, Ministry vet Martin Atkins, ADULT and a litany of other legends.
5. VA – We Don’t Make No Junk!
This Emotional Response comp came out a few years ago, but we missed it, and you probably did too. Do free songs by Mick Trouble, Wet Specimen and No Monster Club whet your appetite? Then what’re ya waitin’ fer? Click the download thingie.
6. Nadja w/ Podsongs – Melody Snakes
Indeed, this is the same Nadja who hails from Germany and has teamed with the likes of Vampillia, OvO, and Fear Falls Burning. She’s acting awfully generous by putting out this Podsongs collaboration at no cost, even if it is just one eight-minute-long song.
7. Beauty – I’d Do Almost Anything for You
Remember that hideous MAGA dude Meat Loaf and his horrible song “I’d Do Anything for Love (but I Won’t Do That)”? Better you don’t. Let this far superior full-length by New Jersey pop-punks Beauty give your ears (and brain) a deep cleanse – for free!
8. Louis Jucker’s A Pharmacy of Songs
We hyped this Humus [sic] release earlier this week, but it’s really good, so we’re plugging it again here.
Ditto the above.
If you dig Thantifaxath, Veilburner, Blut aus Nord and/or Deathspell Omega, not only do you have great taste in metal, but you must give Death Obvious’ self-named album a listen. It won’t even cost you anything.
