The Creature – Volume 6, Issue 2: Rainer Maria, A Minor Forest, Scared Of Chaka
Here is my sixth issue of The Creature, published in the fall of 1998 at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
This was one of the darker editions of the magazine, overtly influenced by David Lynch. Other recurring themes included cars, fear, wrestling, post-structuralism, catastrophe and clarity.
This issue was also clear in the sense that the previous five editions were by and large illegible due to various constraints related to publishing, editing and experience. With Volume 6 Issue 2, many lessons had been learned and the final product was, if nothing else, entirely readable.
Last but not least, while this issue featured some formidable interviews, they were not as strong or impressive as ones from other editions of the magazine. Included here were conversations with Rainer Maria (Pt. 2), Scared of Chaka, the Klezmatics, Transglobal Underground and A Minor Forest.
As for the other 11 issues that were created under my domain, I’ll be reposting them as soon as time, resources, motivation, weather and any other number of variables permit.
