On Tyranny: Justin Sinkovich Focuses on ‘Discipline’ Amid ‘Stressful Times’ as Some Friends Leave US

Since the onset of On Tyranny, we’ve wanted to hear what Justin Sinkovich has to say about the current state of the country and, per The Bad Penny series’ specific focus, how artists like himself are grappling with Authoritarian America.

It’s almost easier to detail what credentials Sinkovich doesn’t have than what he does have under his belt: He’s the frontman of Poison Arrows, Atombombpocketknife and Thumbnail; an Associate Professor and the Associate Director of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Columbia College Chicago; the Head of Business Development and Growth Architect at SoundSafe.ai, an artificial intelligence security startup; a consulting partner at the LA-based Solid Brass Records; Grammy-voting music industry specialist; and, quite frankly, an inspiration to and even an idol of yours truly for 25 years.

Accordingly, it’s no surprise that his take on what’s happening in the U.S. was particularly insightful, lucid and just plain smart. This is an excerpt from a longer conversation we shared a few days ago; stay tuned for more segments stemming from it.
