Exclusive Video Premieres: Moonpool’s ‘Like You Do,’ ‘Aim’
Fresh off two special performances late last week at Fridays on the Plaza festival in Cheyenne, Wyoming and the Underground Music Showcase festival in their hometown of Denver, Moonpool are busting out two brand-new videos exclusively on The Bad Penny. The clips are for the two songs featured on Syzygy, a new EP the alt-rock/post-punk band released exactly one week ago.
The self-released material helps mark the next chapter in the career of the band, which changed its name from The Sticky Heads to Moonpool in February. The trio released their first EP, Nothing Sacred, under their new moniker in early March. Roughly a month ago, Moonpool unveiled “Like You Do” as a standalone single; that track and new song “Aim” comprise Syzygy.
The latter tune is heavier and more shoegazey than “Like You Do.”
“Both songs were written during Moonpool’s own metamorphosis—grappling with identity, rebirth, and the sacred violence of change,” read a press statement accompanying the Syzygy EP. “Mixed and recorded in-house, with drums tracked by Colin Ingram, the tracks retain a DIY urgency even as they reach cinematic heights.”
Moonpool consists of vocalist/guitarist Raymond Suny, drummer/vocalist Steven Hartman and guitarist Izaiah Miller.
